Reactive Dog Class

Reactive Dog Class

Next class is September  2017

This innovative class is appropriate for dogs who are reactive to environmental stimuli such as skateboards, bicycles, dogs and people.  Dogs who have bitten a person previously should be evaluated in an appointment situation and given a personalized treatment plan before they can enter class. This class is generally not helpful for dogs with separation anxiety, noise phobia or aggression toward dogs within their own household.  Dogs and handlers will learn control techniques as well as techniques to help their dogs overcome their reactivity.

Summer of 2014 I took the Reactive Dog Class with Mindy Cox and Dr. Radosta.  A couple years before that I knew NOTHING about dogs and being completely unprepared I went out and got myself a puppy.  Well,, she ended up being a reactive and unsocialized little mess. Because of that little girl I got into dog training aaand learned a little too late what proper socialization was.   But I still had my (now adult) reactive little girl, trying to work through Dr. Sophia Yin's free advice on reactivity on her website and trying to DIY it as I had always done. Well the time came where I saw on Dr. Sophia Yin's website that Dr. Radosta was demonstrating the Treat and Train and I found out she was in my area and that she did reactive classes with you, Mindy, at your awesome Lucky Dog location in Jupiter,FL.

And the class was 2 hours away from Orlando. So I signed up. Did I mention I was in the middle of my pregnancy?   But there I was, and my husband for moral support. And you and Dr. Radosta helped me really practice in the moment and learn relaxation protocols and about visual barriers and about keeping dogs under thresholds and and and and!

Currently, my dog is now more socialized and barely goes over threshold as she did before and goodness she loves her mat!  Thank you so much for offering this class, I developed a whole sense of confidence around her reactivity, equipped with real life practice and solid information.  It is tricky, emotional, difficult but WORTH it!  And I would've driven 4 hours for it. I've learned a lot more as a trainer in the past 3 years and though I adore working with puppy parents, I also have a special place in my heart for working with reactivity on the leash.

Thanks again!
