Veterinary Behavior Nurse

Job description:
The Behavior Nurse conducts behavior modification and cognitive therapies, administers medications and treatments to inpatients and assists the doctor with restraint and phlebotomy. In addition, he or she conducts independent behavior therapy sessions in home and in the clinic. 

Additional duties include, but are not limited to: completing paperwork, checking phone messages and returning phone calls, inventory, preparation before and after appointments; writing/editing handouts and content for the website and newsletter; social media; calling/emailing clients for updates and client education in behavioral medicine, body language of dogs, cats and birds and learning theory. 

Ideal Qualities:
  1. Able to communicate with clients effectively.
  2. Ability to work as a team.
  3. Strong work ethic.
  4. Ability to multitask.
  5. Organized
  6. Interested in learning new things

Skill/certification/experience prerequisites:
  1. LVT/RVT/CVT
  2. KPA-CPT, Jean Donaldson Academy certification (2 year program) or equivalent academic certification
  3. Skilled at phlebotomy.
  4. Minimum of 6 months working as a veterinary technician
  5. Minimum of 6 months of hands on experience working with client owned animals using positive reinforcement techniques.

Veterinary Behavior Technician​

Job description:

Job description:
